Are You a Quester?

You know it if you are.

You don’t want to just be “okay” or simply “get along.” You want more and you always have.

You could be a man, a woman, fluid or trans.

You could be straight, gay, or somewhere in between.

You could be married, divorced or single.

You could be a father, mother, or childless.

You could be in your twenties, just starting out; or your sixties, starting over; or in that big, messy, confusing, overcommitted and overwhelming middle.

But you’re different. You feel a lot. You want a lot.

You want to live according to your true self.

You’re passionate about life – and if you’re not passionate about the life you’re living, you passionately want to be.

You want to understand yourself and know what makes you tick.

You want relationships that are anything but superficial and also don’t suck.

And you want to accomplish something in your lifetime that you deem is sufficiently significant and worthwhile.

And if I know you, you’re incredibly self-critical.

Life has hit you like a ton of bricks. Either you were caught up in a way of life that hurt you, or you made some choices in the past that simply didn’t work out or boxed you into a corner. And now you don’t know how to move forward into a life you actually want.

What Do You Need To Do In Turn?

My clients would probably tell you I don’t push them that hard. But I want you to know this is not some easy float down a lazy river. There are some things I want from you:

  • I want you to be brave and open.
  • To drop down and go deep. (If you’re not sure how to do that, I’ll guide you.)
  • To take some risks to feel what you don’t want to feel and admit to thoughts and feelings you don’t think you should have.
  • To be willing to face squarely your own flaws and distortions (yes, you have them), which we’ll look at together with compassion.
  • To put a little oomph into your therapy.
  • To make steps outside of therapy that we’ve talked about during sessions.
  • To step outside your comfort zone in your life as you create the changes you want.
  • To challenge me sometimes. To even tell me off if you feel like it.
  • To stay hungry.

One Last Thing

I’ve been at this work a loooonnng time.  At this stage in my life and career, I want to work with a group of new clients who want and can absorb what I’ve spent a lifetime learning.

Based on your needs and desires, we’ll decide ahead of time upon a certain number of sessions (not pre-paid, but paid at the time of the sessions), and re-evaluate when that number is reached.
